The saying goes that each inhabitant of Novo mesto gains their “right to homeland” once they have built a vineyard cottage on one of the Cviček-growing hills, and have stored barrels full of the Cviček wine in their cellar. Perhaps that is the reason why the landscape of Dolenjska is covered by hundreds of tiny vineyard cottages, where the owners love to spend their free time and host their friends.
